ONLINE SIMULTANEOUS TRANSLATION: HOW DOES IT WORK?


Remote Simultaneous Interpretation, also known as “online simultaneous translation“, “remote simultaneous translation” or simply “RSI” is the ideal solution for incorporating live translation into your webinars and any other on-site, online or hybrid event. We take care of all your communication needs so that you can focus on your event with complete peace of mind.

This service is fully compatible with any of the three types of events:


1. Fully on-site

Your event will be held in a physical location with all the participants and speakers on-site.

Although in fully on-site events the most usual option is to have both the interpreters and the technical equipment on-site, it could be that the venue does not have sufficient room for the booths – or that you just prefer not to install booths on-site. And here is where the remote simultaneous interpretation comes into play.

With only basic technical equipment on-site, our team of interpreters and sound technicians will be working from our remote sound studio, from which we will send the simultaneous translation feed both to your on-site participants (who will use a physical receiver).


2. Hybrid

Your event will be held in a physical location (your own conference room or a venue of your choosing), with some participants on-site and some external participants connected online (via Zoom, Teams, Webex, YouTube or a bespoke platform).

Here only basic technical equipment is needed on-site, as our team of interpreters and sound technicians will be working from our remote sound studio (which is equipped with soundproof booths, 100 % digital Bosch congress equipment, UPS [Uninterrupted Power System], several backup Internet connections for redundancy and various PC devices running in parallel).

From our remote sound studio we will send the simultaneous translation feed both to your on-site participants (who will use a physical receiver) and to your online participants (who will use their own PC and headsets).


3. Fully online

Your event will be held on an online platform to which all participants (in different physical locations) will connect.

In this mode, there will be no simultaneous interpreters or technical staff in your meeting or conference room. Everything is delivered online. Thanks to our physical hub (sound studio) and our software platform:

      • Your computer, tablet or smartphone聽becomes your microphone and your virtual camera
      • Your headphones become your virtual simultaneous translation headset

From our remote sound studio, we manage all audio and video signals, and send each participant the corresponding audio feed in their mother tongue.

LIVE CAPTIONING


Computer-assisted real-time transcription, or real-time captioning, is the transcription of spoken word into text to make conferences accessible for deaf people.

Transcription speed: up to 180 words per minute (higher than the average speaking rate of 150 wpm).

Requires prior technical visit and on-site technician during the event.

* Simultaneous interpretation is required聽to translate the source language into the target language, as transcribing one language (eg, Spanish) into another (English) in real time is not possible without it.

CONSECUTIVE INTERPRETATION


The speaker gives a speech or presentation in segments (of approximately one to five minutes), which the interpreter then translates, using a notebook or tablet and a complex note-taking technique. In our case, this technique is the result of years of specialised training, which enables us to fully reproduce the original speech 鈥 a skill that untrained interpreters do not possess.
